With over 100 well behaved, hard working children on roll we know that all of them are as bright and brilliant as their non-deaf peers. An excellent provision from early years to adulthood, our community is diverse, clever, vibrant, fun.

Deaf, little, loud and proud

Providing the best start in life

Our pre school deaf little, loud and proud group provides the best start in life. Opportunities to access to language, help and support for parents and carers and chat to our in house experts that make up team around each child. The group meets each Wednesday morning from 9.30am - 11am. Why not come along?

Making the most of day-to-day learning opportunities

Listening, talking, playing, singing, and sharing books and stories together

From September 2023 we'll be delivering the Peep Learning Together Programme to help parents, carers and practitioners make the most of everyday opportunities to develop and learn through play.

A secure foundation

The Early Years and Foundation Stage framework is very much alive at RSD Derby. Consistently good quality teaching and learning makes sure all children make good progress. Planned learning and development activities provide a secure foundation. Partnership working with parents and carers and equality of opportunity ensure no deaf child is left behind.

Taught in small groups by qualified Teachers of the Deaf

A highly specialist team of Speech and Language Therapists lead and embed phonics into every day classroom practice enabling all children to learn speaking, listening and wider communication skills.
