All students in Key Stage 4 and Post 16 can take the Bronze, Silver and Gold Level Awards. This is highly subsidised by school.

This year’s Bronze Level participants planned an expedition, attended weekly training sessions and completed a two day expedition in the Peak District. Students are monitored closely by school staff. The expedition is assessed by an independent assessor in accordance with Duke of Edinburgh's Award rules. The group also took part in a range of activities including fund raising, drama and several sports activities.

This year’s Silver Level participants took part in a canoe expedition. They attended weekly training session both on and off the water and raised money to have expert tuition as this was a new activity to most of them. The group completed a three day canoeing expedition on the Leeds/Liverpool canal and River Eire. Students are supported by school staff. The expedition is assessed by an independent assessor in accordance with Duke of Edinburgh's Award rules. The group also took part in a range of activities including fitness, driving skills and environment studies.

One student in Post 16 is working towards his Gold Award and has joined up with the Open Centre in Derby to complete the expedition section.
